I love epiphanies. Those moments when everything just clicks. When a bolt of inspiration strikes, or someone reframes something in a way that completely shifts how I see it.

One of the privileges of what I do is finding ways to put myself in the path of epiphanies.

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are enriching, though rarely easy. Having your views challenged can be uncomfortable, but it's essential for growth and being better at my job. It's also why clients hire me โ€” to provide alternative perspectives they might not see themselves.

My business,ย Human Risk, was born from an epiphany. I realised that ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ and ๐—ข๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฅ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ธ werenโ€™t just about rules and controls โ€” they were about influencing human decision-making.ย

That clarity helped me see ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ wasnโ€™t just a personal interest; it was directly relevant to my work. It reshaped my career and allowed me to do something that better uses my skills. Plus, it frees me from towing a party line โ€” something I was never good at โ€” letting me approach challenges with fresh curiosity.

Since today (6th January) is Epiphany and a public holiday in Bavaria, Iโ€™m not officially working. But I'll still seek opportunities to discover things that help me think differently. Because that's what I do.
